The Backcountry.
Moto & UTV — 2 or 3-Day Expedition
The canyon walls rise 2,000 feet. The trails go where the crowds don't. Zion's backcountry is one of the most dramatic riding environments in the American West — and almost nobody sees it from the saddle. We do.

Why Zion Backcountry
Everyone hikes the Narrows.
You'll ride the rim.
Zion National Park draws four million visitors a year. Almost all of them walk the same paved paths through the main canyon. The backcountry — Kolob Terrace, the Canaan Mountain plateau, the Hurricane Cliffs, and the mesa roads above the canyon rim — is a different world. Technical, remote, and staggeringly beautiful.
We run this route on two machines depending on your preference and skill level: the Husqvarna FE 501 for riders who want to feel every rock, and the Polaris RZR XP 4 1000 for those who want to share the experience side-by-side. Both machines are fully kitted, fully supported, and staged at the trailhead.
Polaris RZR XP 4 1000
Side by side.
Four-seat, 110hp, long-travel suspension. The RZR XP 4 1000 handles everything on this route and seats four — bring your crew, your partner, or your kids.

What's included
Everything you need.
Nothing you don't.
Moto or UTV
Choose your machine. The Husqvarna FE 501 for solo technical riding, or the Polaris RZR XP 4 1000 for a side-by-side experience. Both are fully supported on the same route.
Kolob Terrace & Rim Roads
The high plateau above Zion's main canyon. Mesa roads, canyon-edge traverses, and views that stop you cold. Almost no one sees Zion from up here.
Hurricane Cliffs
The western escarpment of the Colorado Plateau. Technical ledges, exposed traverses, and a 2,000-foot drop to the valley below. The most dramatic section of the route.
Fully Supported
Chase truck on every section. Fuel, tools, water, recovery gear, and a spare machine. You focus on riding. We handle everything else.
Small Groups
Six riders or three UTVs maximum. The backcountry requires individual attention — small groups move at a real pace and the guide can coach every rider through the technical sections.
Canyon Camp
One or two nights in the backcountry above the canyon. No cell service. No crowds. Just red rock, stars, and the sound of the wind through the canyon walls.
The route
Day by day.
Day 1
Kolob Terrace — The High Plateau
Stage at Hurricane, UT. Gear check, machine walkthrough, and a morning briefing. Ride up onto Kolob Terrace — the high plateau above Zion's main canyon. Mesa roads, canyon-edge traverses, and the first views of the canyon rim from above. Technical sections increase through the afternoon. First camp on the plateau with the canyon dropping away below you.
Day 2
Hurricane Cliffs & Canaan Mountain
The centerpiece of the route. The Hurricane Cliffs are the western escarpment of the Colorado Plateau — technical ledges, exposed traverses, and views that go 50 miles in every direction. Canaan Mountain plateau in the afternoon: slickrock, sand washes, and canyon-edge riding above the main Zion corridor. Camp on the mesa.
Day 3
Gooseberry Mesa & Return
Gooseberry Mesa — a slickrock plateau above the Virgin River — is the send-off. Technical, scenic, and a fitting end to three days in Zion's backcountry. The mesa drops into the valley and the route returns to Hurricane. Debrief, photos, and a cold drink at the truck. (3-day option only.)

From the field
“I've been to Zion three times as a hiker. This was a completely different experience. The rim roads above the canyon are unreal — you're looking down at the Angel's Landing crowds from 2,000 feet up. Nobody sees Zion like this.”
“Took the RZR with my son. He's 14 and it was the best trip we've ever done together. The Hurricane Cliffs section had us both speechless. The guide was incredible — patient, knowledgeable, and pushed us just enough.”
“Gooseberry Mesa on day three is worth the whole trip. Slickrock riding above the Virgin River with the canyon walls on every side. I've ridden Moab, Sedona, and Baja — this is in that conversation.”
